The Club Needs Your Help!

Storm is a 100% volunteer run organization and volunteers are the backbone of our Club. It is critical that our members volunteer to help each season so that we can offer the same quality, affordable program that you have come to expect.

Whether you have just a few hours a season or can take on a more involved role, there is a place for you to volunteer at Storm. Read on to find out how easy it is to get involved.....

 

Team Manager

- Act as a liason / support to your team coaches

- Send out a weekly email reminder to let people know about practices and games.

- Disburse and collect the game jerseys at the beginning and end of season.

- Pay the ref fees at the games (funds supplied by Club) 

- Print out a game sheet for each game and submit sheet and input score to the league.

- In summer season, help organize any tournaments the team may enter.

- Time committment: Less than 1 hour per week during the season.

End Of Summer Season Pizza Party Committee

- At the end of summer season, we traditionally have an end of season pizza party and prizes for all our teams at our home field the last two nights of practice. 

- One month prior to the end of season (third week in August) vounteers would solicit and collect donated prizes, calculate the pizza order needed for each night, and distribute both pizza and prizes at each of the last practices.

- Skill set needed: Organized, with a willingness to approach potential sponsors for prizes.

- Four volunteers needed to form committee

- Time committment: 4 - 6 hours each August

Fundraising Committee

- As a group, the fundraising committee will organize and execute two to four fundraising events each year (BBQ's, grocery bagging, wine tastings, trivia nights.....the possibilities are unlimited!)

- Skill set needed: organized, energetic, willing to ask for volunteers to help at events, creativity.

- Looking for at least four volunteers to form the committee.

- Time committment: TBD by size of event, but you will be part of a committee and supported by the Club.

Storm Clothing / Storm Swag

- Have an eye for style and want to promote Storm's brand...? Then this is the role for you! We need volunteers to source and sell items such as hats, scarves, toques, blankets, t-shirts, adidas gear.....all emblazoned with our Storm logo to our membership and supporters.

- Skill set needed: You can get as creative as you want with this one, keeping in mind we strive to keep items affordable for our members.

- Two volunteers needed to collaborate

- Time committment: Twice a year (May and Oct) 6 - 10hrs each season to source, order, promote items.

Keen to take on a more involved role? Join our Board in one of the following open positions:

 

VP Youth

- Organize and co-ordinate seasonal placement sessions for all youth age groups.

- In consultation with the President, recruit and select appropriately qualified coaches and managers for each youth team. 

- Working with the VP Minis and the Facilities Director, prepare the seasonal practice schedules for the youth teams.

- Be responsible for receiving complaints, reports of incidents or suggestions from players, parents, managers and coaches of the youth teams and for resolving such issues when possible or bringing such matters to the attention of the Board when required.

- Assume the duties of the office of President in the temporary absence of the President.

Vice President Minis

- Coordinates player placement in mini age groups (U6 to U10)

- In consultation with the President, recruit and select appropriately qualified coaches and managers for each youth team. 

- Coordinate the attendance of mini teams at jamborees

- Coordinate the U10 Community teams’ participation in the U10 Community League

- Ensure that youth referees are available for each ‘home’ game for the U10 Community teams.

- Be responsible for receiving complaints, reports of incidents or suggestions from players, parents, managers and coaches of the mini teams and for resolving such issues when possible or bringing such matters to the attention of the Board.

Treasurer

- Be responsible for the fiscal management, budgeting, policy, monitoring and controls of Storm

- Be responsible for the safe-keeping of all financial records and assets of the Club

- Deposit all monies of the Club in a recognized financial institution

- Be responsible for the timely receipt of all monies and dues owed to Storm

- Ensure the timely payment of all expenses of Storm

- Produce financial statements as requested from time to time by the Board

- Prepare a financial report for the Annual General Meeting containing complete financial statements for the previous fiscal year and an audit recommendation as required by the Board

- Be responsible for coordinating an independent audit of the accounts as required by the Board.

Equipment Director

- Maintain an up to date inventory of all equipment (balls, pinnies, nets, coaches’ bags, etc) belonging to Storm.

- Ensure that adequate and appropriate equipment is available for the training and game needs of the Club

- Propose new equipment purchases to the Board as required

- Be responsible for ordering all new equipment required by the Club  as approved by the Board

- Distribute appropriate equipment to individual teams at the start of each season and collect at the end of each season.

- Arrange for appropriate storage facilities for club equipment (Storage POD) and Porta-Potty delivery / pickup in summer season.

Registrar Youth

- Organize and coordinate seasonal in-person registration events including the booking of appropriate facilities.

- Update and maintain the online registration system as required.

- Be responsible for the timely submission of team registration forms to the NSSL.

- Update and maintain team rosters, coaches and team managers in NSSL system.

- Provide official team rosters to coaches and managers of all mini and youth teams each season

- Respond to all queries regarding registration from players, parents, coaches and managers

Communications

- Be responsible for all Club wide communications.

- Regularly update and maintain the Storm Soccer Club website.

- Respond to or distribute any inquiries to the Club email to the appropriate Board member / volunteer as needed.

- Maintain the Club’s social media presence.

- Ensure that the positive image of Storm is maintained through all electronic media forms.

Game Jerseys

- Maintain an up to date inventory of all game jerseys owned by the Club.

- Ensure that adequate game jerseys are available for the youth teams at the start of each season.

- Propose new jersey purchases to the Board as required.

- Distribute appropriate game jerseys to team managers at the start of each season, ensuring that they are aware of jersey deposit requirements.

- Ensure that all game jerseys are returned to the Club at the end of each season. 

- Store the game jerseys between seasons.
