U8 players practice twice a week on weekday evenings and have the option of participating in weekend soccer Festivals. Festivals are hosted by Clubs around the HRM. Festivals are fun, tournament style events where U8 teams play three 25 minute games against other Clubs. Before moving outdoors to grass fields, the first Festivals will be held indoors on turf.
Our U8 program follows the Soccer Canada Skills Centre Model. The Skills Centre Model aims to provide access for all players to a high quality program where they can have fun with their friends, learn new skills and play the game in an appropriate format. U8 players practice together based on gender. The coaches will split up the players into small groups and each groups will rotate through stations participating in fun games and activities.
Program Start / Finish
Indoor practices will start mid May with our first week of outdoor practices starting the week of June running until August 21st.
U8 will practice once a week for in May, and twice a week in the early evenings when outdoor practices start the first week of June.
The detailed practice schedule will not be finalized until a few weeks prior to the start of season. The schedule will depend on several factors; coach availability, number of teams and field allocation. The practice schedule will be posted on the Storm website and social media as soon as it is finalized.
The game schedule will be developed by Soccer Nova Scotia and the Nova Scotia Soccer League (NSSL) once the number of teams have been determined. Games will be held on the weekends. Generally, games will be scheduled around consistent time blocks based on gender and age group. They may also participate in tournaments throughout the summer season if there is enough interest from the team.
